Description
Ants, hailing from North London, was immersed in a vibrant and eclectic musical environment from a young age. His Romanian father brought Latin-American rhythms into their home, while his Sierra Leonean mother had a deep appreciation for Motown classics. This rich blend of influences significantly shaped Ants' early musical tastes. At seven, he was gifted his first CD player and a copy of 50 Cent's 2007 album Curtis, which sparked his passion for hip-hop. His enthusiasm for the genre grew as he began downloading rap music through LimeWire, immersing himself fully in its rhythms and styles. Encouraged by his grandmother, Ants also started writing poetry at eight, which laid the groundwork for his future as a songwriter.
Before fully committing to music, Ants had a strong passion for sports. At six, he was scouted by Chelsea's U16 team and dedicated himself to football practice six days a week. However, by the age of 16, he decided to shift his focus entirely to his burgeoning music career.
Prior to embarking on his solo journey during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ants was a member of the musical trio Trademark, alongside Tejy, an R&B singer from North West London, and producer Jay Blu. This collaborative effort was a crucial phase in his career, helping to refine his sound and shape his artistic identity.
