Burning Man is a dynamic community of people, united by the values reflected in the Ten Principles and gathering to create something more creative and connected. Black Rock City-where the largest annual Burning Man event takes place-is at the center of this community and acts as a symbolic and physical home for participants. The year-round focus is on building Black Rock City and cultivating the unique culture that arises from this gathering. The Burning Man Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation headquartered in San Francisco, California, is the key organisation behind these efforts.
Mission Statement The Burning Man Project provides support and infrastructure for a global community working to create positive change through interactive art, events, and activities, guided by the values reflected in the Ten Principles.
Vision Burning Man Project strives to create extraordinary, life-changing, joyful experiences for people around the world that transform individuals, uplift the human spirit, build strong communities, and encourage a profound culture of inclusion, creativity, self-expression, and civic engagement.
Programme Areas Burning Man offers infrastructural resources and structures that support the realization of the Ten Principles in local communities via six interconnected programme areas:
Arts: Empowering creativity and artistry both within and outside the community.
Civic Involvement: Participation in the life and concerns of the community. Culture: Encouraging the particular culture developed from the Burning Man event. Education: Providing educational programs to share the principles and practices of Burning Man. Philosophical Centre: Examining the philosophical underpinnings forming the basis for the values and actions of the community.
