Central to this community is Black Rock City, the site of the largest annual Burning Man event, which serves as both a symbolic and actual home for participants. The year-round focus is on constructing Black Rock City and nurturing the distinctive culture that emerges from this gathering. The core organisation behind these efforts is the Burning Man Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organisation based in San Francisco, California.

Mission Statement The mission of the Burning Man Project is to facilitate and extend the unique culture that has grown out of the Burning Man event, sharing its values and principles with the wider world.

Vision The vision of the Burning Man Project is to provide transformative experiences that are grand, awe-inspiring, and joyous, uplifting the human spirit, addressing social challenges, and inspiring a profound sense of culture, community, and civic engagement.

Programme Areas Burning Man offers infrastructural tools and frameworks to assist local communities in applying the Ten Principles through six interconnected programme areas:
