Description
Since its inception in 2009, Solas Festival has developed into Scotland's premier midsummer festival, bringing audiences of all ages together with a weekend festival of music and the arts. Intending to entertain, inspire, and challenge, the festival offers a wide and inclusive programme inviting all people into a secure, vibrant setting.
But even more than that, the belief that there is more than entertainment pushes the promoters of Solas Festival to create a specific kind of conversation and debate on the important issues: from tough arguments with activists, writers, and thinkers across the spectrum to a dizzying array of artistic performances, there is something for everyone.
Behind the scenes, Solas Festival is rooted in faith in equality, justice, beauty, and welcome. The company works relentlessly to produce an event that embraces the diversity of our cultures, intolerance towards prejudice, and celebrates tolerance. It is a simple objective-to make sure that every single person has an absolutely brilliant time treated and respected with care.
The core ethos of this festival really has to do with social justice. In aligning the programming for the event, Solas Festival works closely with campaigning organisations so that issues about global justice and responsibility are to the fore, which might inspire change and empower a community to take action in making a difference.
Collaboration is at the heart of Solas Festival. Organizers welcome partnership-working and encourage their artists not only to perform but also to facilitate workshops that may inspire creativity in others. Their hardworking board and volunteer team are as diverse as their audience, and they welcome people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and ages.
Though the organizers try to bring people together, it needs to be clarified that Solas Festival is an independent entity and not affiliated with "Solas," the Centre for Public Christianity. "Solas" has absolutely no connection with the views given by "Solas," its founder, and therefore Rev David Robertson either.
Come one, come all, and join Solas Festival for a weekend of celebration, connecting, and enlightening. Together, they can make memories and embrace the spirit of unity and understanding.
