LIDO Festival, the newest highlight on London’s summer calendar, is set to launch in Victoria Park in June 2025. Named after the park’s historic Lido Field, this two-weekend event will feature expertly curated music line-ups alongside community-focused activities throughout the week, all centred on a strong commitment to sustainability.
As a new festival in Tower Hamlets, LIDO aims to bring significant benefits to the local area, including improvements to the park itself. Following the success of AEG’s nearby East London festival, All Points East, which contributes over £45 million annually to the local economy, LIDO will similarly work with local suppliers, hire local staff, and boost spending on accommodation, food, and entertainment. The festival’s midweek programme will also offer free arts, culture, and wellbeing activities, providing a platform for local talent while enhancing the area’s cultural landscape.
The full line-up will be announced soon, and LIDO promises to feature top current headliners, working closely with them to curate line-ups that reflect their musical passions, with a special focus on emerging artists. Dedicated to fostering the growth of UK music, LIDO offers a platform that celebrates today’s talent while nurturing and inspiring the next generation of headliners, all within a framework of responsible and sustainable practices.
Beyond music, LIDO is committed to making a meaningful impact on the local community. A key part of this is its ongoing partnership with East London Arts and Music (ELAM), offering students hands-on experience in the creative industries. This partnership will give students opportunities to perform and gain vocational experience in festival production, technology, and the broader music industry.
LIDO is also dedicated to creating a sustainable future for live music and festivals. From the outset, the festival will implement and continuously develop sustainable policies, from powering the event and managing waste disposal to collaborating with local food vendors to ensure efficient, streamlined supply chains with minimal environmental impact. LIDO will hold itself accountable, striving to seize every opportunity to make the festival as sustainable as possible.
Jim King, CEO of European Festivals at AEG Presents says, “LIDO Festival represents the next stage of AEG’s festival journey.
Taking place at Victoria Park, one of our favourite locations in the heart of London’s creative districts, Lido Festival allows us to push our ambitions further in working with young people within the industry and those who aspire to be. Most excitingly, this centres about a new generation of artists, whether they’re headlining or performing for the first time.
The vision of supporting the artists’ journey further develops as we program each day directly with the headliner. This delivers a show that fans know has the artists’ musical soul embedded throughout. This is one of the most exciting aspects of Lido Festival, knowing that everyone on the bill means something to the headliner closing out the show.“
Cllr Kamrul Hussain, Cabinet Member for Culture and Recreation says, “This new festival, coming to our multi award-winning Victoria Park, has the potential to provide more opportunities for residents to benefit from cultural events; increase expenditure in and boost our local economy through visits to the borough; and generate more income to support council services including the upkeep of our parks and open spaces. We look forward to working with AEG, to ensure that community benefits are at the heart of the new LIDO Festival.“
LIDO Festival headliners, full line ups and programmes are to be announced.
