Following an outpouring of excitement from fans, The Maccabees have revealed the first wave of special guests set to join their long-awaited reunion show at All Points East on Sunday, 24 August 2025. Among the first acts announced are Bombay Bicycle Club, Dry Cleaning, The Cribs, Nilüfer Yanya, The Murder Capital, Divorce, and Prima Queen—building a star-studded lineup with more artists still to be announced.
The event will mark The Maccabees’ first live performance in eight years, coinciding with the ten-year anniversary of their acclaimed album Marks to Prove It. Since the band’s emotional farewell in 2017, capped with three sold-out nights at Alexandra Palace, this reunion has been eagerly awaited by fans.
Reflecting on the return, guitarist Felix White shared, “We’ve been to All Points East a lot, separately. Watching the line-ups, I’d feel a little regret, wondering if we’d ever get our chance. It felt like a moment we’d missed, so we’re all kind of shocked and thrilled that we get to do it together again.”
The return of The Maccabees alone is momentous, but the addition of British indie icons Bombay Bicycle Club takes the excitement to new heights. Since forming in 2005, Bombay Bicycle Club has collected accolades including the NME Best New Band award and an Ivor Novello nomination. In 2023, they returned with their sixth album, My Big Day, and followed it up this year with Fantasies, a dynamic EP featuring indie-pop collaborations with artists like Lucy Rose and Matilda Mann.
Joining the headliners, post-punk favourites Dry Cleaning bring their unique spoken-word vocals and signature rhythms on popular tracks like “Scratchcard Lanyard” and “Strong Feelings.” Fellow indie legends The Cribs promise to deliver their classic energy, with an established pedigree bolstered by former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, who played with the band for several years.
Also joining the lineup is genre-defying artist Nilüfer Yanya, who recently released My Method Actor, praised by Pitchfork as “an album of everyday luxury,” with a remix edition expected in November. Dublin’s post-punk heroes The Murder Capital add their dark anthems, including the powerful single “Can’t Pretend To Know.” Rising Nottingham band Divorce will arrive at All Points East fresh off the release of their debut album, Drive to Goldenhammer, while alt-pop duo Prima Queen will bring their crowd-pleasing melodies and recent single “Fool,” described by Clash as “a whip-smart piece of alt-pop… striking and understated.”
As the planning for the reunion took shape, guitarist Hugo White found inspiration from seeing The Strokes at last year’s All Points East. “I could see they were enjoying it, appreciating the legacy they’d created. This is an opportunity to realise how special what we had was, to enjoy it and share it with the community it created.”
All Points East 2024: A Festival Season Success
This year’s All Points East featured an impressive lineup with headliners such as Kaytranada, Loyle Carner, Mitski, and LCD Soundsystem. Festival favourites Field Day and The Postal Service also took the stage, while the free event In The Neighbourhood returned to Victoria Park for four days of activities, food, and entertainment between festival weekends.
With The Maccabees’ triumphant return at its heart, All Points East 2025 promises to be a landmark celebration of British guitar music. Fans are already marking their calendars for what’s shaping up to be a legendary reunion at Victoria Park.
